Zattoo has relaunched its Apple TV app in Germany, offering enhanced user experience and new TV streaming features.
New for German users are the search function, the highlights page with programme recommendations, the on-demand service and the recording function enabling users to record TV shows.
“Internet-capable TV sets are on the rise and TV streaming is an essential part of daily media consumption,” said Jörg Meyer, Chief Officer Content & Consumer at Zattoo. “TV streaming is establishing itself, also through Apple TV, as an attractive alternative to traditional distribution platforms such as cable, satellite and DTT. This is also reflected in the number of users. Around 40% of Zattoo usage in Germany is already through connected TV apps.”
With the new search feature, channels and TV shows can be found faster in the Apple TV app, according to Zattoo. If the app is opened, live TV can be watched from the start. Through the Watch TV button, users can access the channel list which is now available directly in the player. The Hold to dictate function supports Apple’s native voice search function. Another addition is the Swipe down for info feature which leads to channel information as well as the replay and recording function.
As in the web version and the mobile apps of Zattoo, the Highlights menu item provides an overview of what other users are currently watching as well as TV recommendations from Zattoo’s editorial staff covering popular shows and various genres.
The On Demand function is completely new in the app. It gives users access to a selection of series, documentaries and TV classics.
