All Media Baltics will distribute its TV services to Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia via satellite from Astra’s 5 degrees East slot.
This follows the signing of a multi-year agreement between All Media Baltics and SES that will allow the company use several transponders on Astra 4A.
All Media Baltics was created in October this year after Providence Equity Partners acquired all the media and pay-TV companies belonging to Modern Times Group in the region. SES reaches 1.73 TV million households in the Baltics, or 65% of the total, from the 5 degrees East slot.
Commenting on the development, Hakan Sjodin, VP, sales Nordic, Baltic and Eastern Europe at SES Video, said: “Not only do we provide premium DTH services, but we are also in the best position to bring high definition content to TV households in the Baltics, as we serve 78% of HDTV homes in the region via our satellites.
“We are very pleased to support All Media Baltics with its DTH needs in high definition and we look forward to helping them continue to grow.”
Arvils Kupris, COO All Media Baltics, added: “TV entertainment requires high quality content and also reliable broadcasting services in order to satisfy our viewers.
“SES has a track record of providing top-quality broadcasting services. We are confident that the company will help us continue entertaining our audience in the best possible way and to ensure premium quality services.”
