German IPTV platform waipu.tv has introduced a video-on-demand (VOD) function, initially offering movies, children’s programmes and cultural events on demand.
The films are contributed by multi-channel network Watch Movies which operates the YouTube channel of the same name in Germany. The line-up initially comprises 20 movies from the areas of Christmas, thriller, drama and comedy with actors such as Russell Crowe, Alec Baldwin, Elizabeth Hurley and Danny DeVito.
Children’s programmes are provided by My Animation Kids. The offer is operated by Scopas Medien, one of Germany’s largest animated movies production companies (The Sandman and the Lost Sand of Dreams, JoNaLu).
Both Watch Movies and My Animation Kids are free-of-charge, ad-supported and not only available to paying customers, but also to users of waipu.tv’s free version. Advertising sales are handled by Exaring, the parent company of waipu.tv.
Another new service is the digital event stage Bad Hersfeld Digital offering performances of the Bad Hersfeld Festival on-demand.
