TV Player is to launch a new recording feature that allows users to record their favourite shows in the cloud.
The network personal video recorder (nPVR) service will give viewers to the streaming service the ability to generate their own catch-up content.
Customers will be able to record live TV simultaneously across multiple channels. Available to paying customers, 10 hours of storage will be included with each of TVPlayer’s premium PLUS packs. An additional 150 hours can be purchased for £5 per month.
Initially restricted to pay channels, further broadcasters will be added later.
Rob Hodgkinson, Chief Operating Officer of TVPlayer, said: “We are excited to announce the UK’s first cloud-based recording service for live TV. This is a significant and ambitious extension of our current service offering. We are now giving consumers the freedom to watch their favourite TV shows whenever and wherever they want, whether in the comfort of their own homes or on the go, whether live or recorded. TVPlayer will continue to develop innovative products for our viewers who enjoy high quality programming at reasonable prices.”
The TV viewing platform is already available across a range of devices, including desktop, iOS, Android, Windows 10, Amazon Fire Stick, Apple TV, Xbox, Roku and Freesat.
It currently live-streams over 30 pay-TV channels and over 75 of the UK’s top free-to-air television channels, including channels from the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sony, to over one million monthly active users in the UK.
