Swisscom selects SoftAtHome for new Wi-Fi box

December 12, 2017 08.00 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Swiss telco Swisscom has chosen SoftAtHome, a French software provider for convergent services in the digital home, to support the new Wi-Fi box of its IPTV platform Swisscom TV.

The box is a 3-in-1 access point device (repeater, extender, video bridge) creating a faster, more robust and secure wireless home network with extended coverage, according to SoftAtHome.

The SoftAtHome Smart Wi-Fi features integrated in the box include intelligent channel selection and instant steering. A unique SSID is issued on all access points creating a smart home network supporting any network topology. Steering algorithms adapt to user device behaviour to optimise performances and user experience.

The solution prioritises time-critical traffic like multicast IPTV. Cloud-based tools with AI-based analytics are integrated, aiming to solve home network problems before they occur.

Swisscom is a member of SoftAtHome’s Club of Operators. The strategic initiative aims to accelerate the development of digital home solutions by sharing best practices with other market players and collaborating to ensure wide-spread deployment of connected home services.
