The Russian OTT service Megogo will no longer work with the ad sales house Gazprom-Media Digital (GPMD) from 2018.
According to Kommersant, this follows GPMD’s decision to work with ivi, the largest OTT platform in the country and Megogo’s main competitor.
Megogo has worked with GPMD since 2012 and will now instead use the services of IMHO to sell ads on all platforms – desktops, mobiles and smart TVs.
Ivi was until recently a client of IMHO.
Megogo relies heavily on advertising for its revenues despite growth in subscription and transactional payments.
It has a 13% share of the Russian VOD market and claims the third largest revenue among OTT services after ivi and Okko.
