Documentaries instead of news: German commercial broadcaster N24 will change its TV offer for viewers in Austria.
From January 18, 2018, documentary channel N24 Doku Austria will replace news channel N24 Austria. The changeover will take place on the day on which N24 will adopt the new name WELT in Germany.
N24 Doku Austria will show documentaries and reportages from the areas of space, history, nature & wildlife, technology, mystery and society.
N24 Doku Austria will be offered – like N24 Austria – as an ad-supported free-to-air channel. The channel will take over the satellite slot of N24 Austria on Astra (19.2° East) on the frequency 12.148 GHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4). The change will also affect all other distribution platforms in Austria including cable and IPTV networks.
In Germany, N24 Doku launched on September 17, 2016. The documentary channel will keep its name despite the name change of N24 into WELT.
