Pay-TV revenues in Spain grew by 15% in the first quarter of this year, according to data published by the regulator CNMC.
They amounted to €520 million, while FTA services had revenues of €465 million.
CNMC notes that 88% of pay-TV subscribers opted for some form of package. The one with the highest growth continued to be five-play, which gained 99,000 new customers in the quarter to reach 4.9 million.
Meanwhile, in the FTA sector, privately owned TV channels had revenues of €410 million, with advertising accounting for 92.5% of the total.
CNMC also says that Mediaset and Atresmedia accounted for 88.6% of TV ad revenues in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, average viewing time was 4:03 per day person, which was practically the same as the previous quarter.
DTT accounted for 77.2% of viewing time, followed by 2.9% for DTH and 19.9% for cable XDSL/FTTH TV.
