Dutch based gay lifestyle channel OutTV has launched The Pitch,a television programme to introduce the new interactive TV platform to its supporters.
Viewers and interested parties can directly influence the further development of this interactive platform through a crowdfunding campaign. OutTV claims to be the largest TV brand for the gay-minded in Europe with a reach of more than five million viewers. To continue its growth over the next decade, the lifestyle channel is now starting a crwod funding campaign an a TV programme to help raise the money and offer viewers the opportunity to actively particpate.
“Unique is that the platform can match users on the basis of viewing behaviour, interests and physical characteristics,” said Marc Putman, founder and CEO of OutTV.
“OutTV is the first TV content provider to combine elements of popular dating apps (such as Grindr and Tinder) and social media data. The European Commission has also committed itself to funding 300,000, – funding to make the platform accessible in several European countries in order to generate attention for the target group of early childhood films and European films.”
The crowdfunding will ensure that the platform is extended with functionalities that the user wants. The campaign aims to raise EUR150,000, which includes Google Vision technology to facilitate TV programme preferences and personal matching. The app software developer of the TV platform, Lizard Apps from Rotterdam, works together with OD Media in Utrecht and the University of Delft.
For the purposes of the crowdfunding campaign, OutTV has produced the TV programme’ The Pitch’, in which Marc Putman pitched the new platform to a jury.
