TV4 Sweden chooses Norigin Media for Smart TV Apps

November 14, 2017 07.17 Europe/London By Julian Clover

TV4 Group, Sweden’s largest commercial TV broadcaster has signed a new agreement with Norigin Media.

It has selected Norigin´s Canvas Apps development services to build Smart TV Apps for its Advertising Video-on-Demand service (AVoD).

Cecilia Engelbert, Product Owner for Smart TV at Bonnier Broadcasting, says: “We see an increased consumption on Smart TV platforms amongst our users. This is a natural next step to widen our AVoD service, and we are very pleased to work with Norigin Media in delivering a TV app to this new platform. We always strive to improve the experience in our streaming services and we strongly believe that this platform will be of great value to our users going forward.”

The AVoD service will use Norigin’s multi-screen TV-App modules that support ad-integrations on both video-on-demand (VOD) and Live-TV content. The modules are supported across different Smart TVs and will be initially used for the launch on Samsung Tizen. The application will be directly integrated towards TV4’s advanced OTT platform giving viewers free access to live and on-demand content.

Ajey Anand, Norigin Media’s CEO added: “There is a lot of new activity from broadcasters and operators on Smart TVs, especially while integrating advertisements with VOD and Live TV streaming services. Samsung, LG and Sony are pushing the limits on distribution of their Smart TVs into many markets and Norigin is glad to be in the middle of it all. We look forward to the relationship with the Bonnier Group who are not just market leaders in Scandinavia, but also a class apart.”

The Bonnier subsidiary has registrations from 35 per cent of the Swedish population.
