Romanians are increasingly willing to pay for HD channels, according to Mihai Ursoi, country manager of SES Astra Romania, Bulgaria and Republic of Moldova.
Speaking at the ZF Digital ’17 conference and quoted by ZF, he said that while last year only 39% were willing to do so, this year the figure was 60%.
Ursoi added that while two and a half years ago only 55% of Romanians expressed a willingness to buy HD reception equipment, the figure has since increased significantly.
He also said that 47% of Romanians now spend 2-3 hours daily watching TV and almost three out of 10 over six hours daily.
Meanwhile, speaking at the same conference, Bogdan Bucurei, head of CVP and content, UPC CEE, said that linear TV consumption in Romania was greatest in the regions as it is the cheapest form of entertainment.
However, he added that there is a gradual shift taking place towards the consumption of premium content.
