TV3 Ireland could adopt Virgin Media brand
Irish broadcaster TV3 could be rebranded as Virgin Media.
Advertising agencies have already been briefed about the project.
“It’s definitely something that we’re looking at,” Virgin Media Ireland chief executive Tony Hanway told the Irish Times. “It has been on the agenda for quite some time. We look at the equity that we’ve built up in TV3 and wonder what it would look like as Virgin Media. There’s nothing to say that there wouldn’t be a Virgin Media [television] station at some stage.”
It’s like that any rebranding would wait until 2018, the 20th anniversary of the channel’s launch.
Virgin Media’s parent Liberty Global acquired TV3 in July 2015 for a purchase price of €80 million. It purchased UTV Ireland the following year and currently operates TV3, 3e and be3.
