The number of FTTH lines in Spain exceeded 6 million in September, according to the latest data published by the regulator CNMC.
A further 173,974 were added to the total during the month, and 1.6 million in the year to September. This contrasted with DSL lines, where the number fell by 191,288 during the month and 1.2 million in the year to September.
Movistar accounted for 3.3 million FTTH lines, or 54.5% of the total, in September.
It was also the market leader in the fixed broadband sector as a whole, with a share of 41.70%. Orange was in second place (28.09%), followed by Vodafone (23.22%), Grupo Masmovil (2.61%) and other providers (4.38%).
However, Grupo Masmovil (+46,600) gained the most new customers in September, with Vodafone in second place (36.700) and Movistar (11,400) in third.
