Florea will become director of acquisitions and content partnerships, while Rowden will assume the new role of director of programming, CBS Channels. They will be both based in London and continue to report to Kevin Dickie, SVP, Channels Group, UK, MEA and Poland.
In her new and expanded role, Florea will oversee content acquisitions across AMCNI UK’s portfolio of 10 brands, and also manage studio relations and content partnerships, including the CBS UK and EMEA joint ventures co-owned by AMCNI UK and CBS Studios International.
Rowden, most recently director of programming, CBS Reality and New Media, will meanwhile now have full responsibility for the programming strategy for the whole CBS channel portfolio across the UK and EMEA consisting of CBS Action, CBS Drama, CBS Reality, Horror Channel and CBS Europa.
Commenting on the appointments, Dickie said: “Alina is an accomplished acquisitions strategist while Sam has been the driving force behind the growth of CBS Reality and has been leading the way with original productions. Both of them have been key contributors to the continued growth of AMCNI UK and their judgement and insight will continue to be invaluable to the business.”
Florea has over 20 years of experience in worldwide content acquisition and channel management. She joined AMCNI UK in 2000 and helped established and developed the CBS UK and EMEA Channels Partnerships in 2009 and 2012 respectively, and launching AMC in the UK in 2015. She has negotiated long-term studio deals involving both scripted and factual programmes. Prior to joining AMCNI UK she was director of acquisitions and programming at MediaPro International in Romania.
Rowden joined the company in 2007 and during her time, CBS Reality has become the biggest factual entertainment channel in the UK amongst adult women, and a Top 10 most watched non-PSB channel amongst all adults.
Prior to AMCNI UK, she worked as consultant for UKTV and was head of acquisitions and co-production for Sky One.
