The new Swiss sports channel MySports, available exclusively on cable and not on competing IPTV platform Swisscom TV, shows its effect.
The decline of TV customers was reduced to 11.800 in Q3 2017, according to cable operator association Suissedigital. “I’m convinced that MySports will contribute to convincing customers about the services and very high quality of cable networks,” Suissedigital Managing Director Simon Osterwalder said in Bern.
The channel which launched on September 8, 2017 is operated by Suissedigital’s largest member UPC and offered to further cable companies for distribution. The focus is on live Swiss ice-hockey.
Competitor Swisscom just added 6,000 TV customers in Q3 2017, less than in the previous quarter (9,000). The telco refers to “tendencies of market saturation” in its quarterly report.
