Vodafone is introducing its controversial ‘free’ data scheme to the UK.
The Vodafone Passes give customers endless use of their favourite apps, without eroding the monthly data allowance. Customers pay a flat fee covering Music, Video, Social or Chat.
Nick Jeffery, Vodafone UK CEO, said: “We want our customers to be able to use their phones exactly as they want to. With Vodafone Passes, they can keep in touch, keep tuned in and keep watching without having to keep an eye on their data meter.”
But the pass has already attracted the attention of the regulators.
In Germany, where the scheme was announced in September, the Federal Network Agency said It would examine the zero-rating service. Deutsche Telekom has a similar proposal.
Vodafone has also announced the passes will launch in Spain.
