The owner of Bulgarian national commercial broadcaster Nova TV has assumed responsibility for selling airtime for the Scripps Networks Interactive channels Food Network, Travel Channel and Fine Living.
As a result, reports Capital, Nova Broadcasting Group will in total be responsible for ad sales for five international groups and a total of 19 TV channels in the country. These include Fox, Discovery, Disney Channel, AXN and City TV. Quoting three unnamed independent sources, Capital adds that the contract with Discovery will soon expire and is unlikely to be renewed.
They could come to be represented by a new media agency created by Vesela Dimova, a former sales director at Nova’s main competitor bTV, who left the company in March this year.
Nova Broadacsting Group and bTV are owned by Modern Times Group (MTG) and Central European Media Enterprises (CME) respectively and both have a portfolio of proprietary thematic channels.
The three Scripps channels were fully localised into Bulgarian at the start of this year.
