Poland’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has voiced concerns about the dominant position of TVN Media and Polsat Media in the TV ad market.
Quoted in Wirtualne Media, its president Marek Niechcial said that there were indications they each have a market share exceeding 40%.
This gave them a dominant position in the marketplace and the UOKiK will investigate concentration in the Polish TV ad market first before moving on to other areas of the media. It will also examine the print sector, which is dominated by the publishing groups Agora and Polska Press.
Wirtualne Media notes that TVN Media and Polsat Media’s strong position in the TV ad market is down to the two companies providing services to a large number of TV stations aside from those operated by their parent companies TVN and Polsat.
