Insight TV launches 4K UHD on Layer3 TV

October 23, 2017 10.42 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Insight TV has signed a distribution deal with next-generation US cable company Layer3 TV.

This is the first 4K UHD distribution deal that Insight TV l has signed in the United States, making the channel available to Layer3 TV subscribers in Denver, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Dallas in 4K UHD.

“Layer3 TV is proud to be Insight TV l’s charter launch partner in the United States,” said Lindsay Gardner, Layer3 TV’s Chief Content Officer.

“Insight TV is a trailblazer in the 4K space, and Layer3 TV subscribers will enjoy the compelling 24/7 linear channel and accompanying 4K On Demand library. Layer3 TV is dedicated to bringing our subscribers the most robust content line up including 4K programing live and On Demand.”

Graeme Stanley, Commercial Director of Insight TV l adds, “We’re delighted to make this announcement and to further highlight the growing number of territories that now have access to INSIGHT TV. Our schedule covers a wide range of quality programming in the Extreme Sports and Adventure genres covering innovative documentaries, accessible reality series and cutting-edge factual infotainment, as well as high levels of interactive new formats. We look forward to announcing further US distribution agreements in the coming weeks.”

With the addition of Insight TV l, Layer3 TV now carries two 24/7 4K networks, a growing library of 4K UHD On Demand content and access to live 4K events including Fox Sports’ 4K college football coverage this Fall and the successful June 2017 Bellator NYC mixed martial arts fight night. Its subscribers’ demand for 4K UHD has matched Layer3 TV’s drive to add more. More than 50% of Layer3 TV subscribers have watched 4K live or On Demand. Further, most 4K UHD On Demand programmes rank among the top 10 most-viewed titles within 48 hours of becoming available.

Founded in 2013 by cable veterans Jeff Binder and Dave Fellows, the company is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. One hundred percent of Layer3 TV’s current subscribers have access to Insight TV because every Layer3 TV set-top box is 4K enabled.

Layer3 TV counts among its distribution partners Fox Networks Group, Disney and ESPN Media Networks, Turner, NBCUniversal, Viacom, CBS, Discovery, HBO, Showtime, EPIX, Scripps Networks Interactive, as well as local television broadcasters, regional sports networks and major studios.
