The number of FTTH lines in Spain exceeded 5.8 million in August, according to the latest data published by the regulator CNMC.
An additional 128,710 lines were added in the month, with 55.4% of the total being provided by Movistar.
At the same time, the number of DSL and HFC lines fell by 97,399 and 3,206 respectively in August.
CNMC notes that in the year to August the number of FTTH lines in Spain grew by 1.6 million, while the number of DSL lines fell by 1.2 million to 5.5 million.
Movistar was the leading provider of fixed-line broadband in Spain in August, claiming a market share of 41.92%.
It was followed by Orange (28.27%), Vodafone (23.13%) and Grupo Masmovil (2.3%), with remaining providers accounting for 4.38%.
