The Ukrainian politician and media entrepreneur Boris Lozhkin plans to create a new holding that will include Volia, the country’s leading cable operator.
According to Mediasat and Liga.net, quoting anonymous sources, he is willing to spend between $100 million and $150 million on a 100% stake in Volia. However, Volia is estimated by some analysts to be worth at least $200 million.
Lozhkin is also understood to be targeting the companies Fregat, Triolan, Frinet and Tenet, which he would then merge with Volia to create a company capable of taking on the incumbent Ukrtelecom.
Talks are ongoing and their outcome could be made public by the end of this year.
Lozhkin previously founded the media group UMH in 2000, which he then sold to the Vetek group of companies in 2013.
