Russia’s Digital TV (DTV) will launch a new music-based animation channel named Multimusic on December 1.
According to Kommersant, it will replace the channel Country, which was aimed at the Russian regions.
It adds that negotiations to secure rights for content in Multimusic are currently being undertaken by a partner company of DTV named 0+1 Media.
One of the content suppliers will be Soyuzmultfilm, with a contract about to be signed.
DTV is itself a joint venture between VGRTK and Rostelecom, managing their thematic channel portfolio.
Country was launched in 2009 at a cost of $10 million but has failed to attain a significant audience share.
