The BBC has launched a major news programme on TV Rain (Dozhd), its station partner in Russia.
On air live during prime time, News from the BBC is the culmination of the BBC’s 90-minute programme block on the channel.
The launch of the programme is part of a major enhancement that is underway across the BBC World Service, funded through a £291 million grant from the UK government.
Commenting on the development, Artyom Liss, BBC World Service Europe Region Editor, said: “We want to ensure that our audiences in Russia appreciate the breadth and depth of the news coverage offered by this new flagship BBC Russian TV news programme as well as its innovative format.”
Natalya Sindeeva, DG of TV Rain, added: “Every day we receive from our colleagues in London content on the subjects that are interesting to our subscribers and viewers. The major re-launch of the news from the BBC means a new studio in London, new technologies and even more stories and news items. Watch BBC news on TV Rain between 19.00 and 19.30.”
