The deal was first announced at the presentation of RTL Group’s half-year results 2017 on 30 August 2017.
RTL Group had first acquired a majority stake in SpotX in September 2014 – at that time known as SpotXchange. Since then, SpotX has seen significant growth in terms of revenue, client base, technology development and geographic footprint. The transaction will be treated as an equity transaction.
RTL Group plans additional investments to further expand its ad-tech businesses and foster continued synergies between its different ad-tech entities. This plan includes the close collaboration of SpotX and Smartclip, rolling out their solutions across RTL Group’s operations and scaling up the businesses with further acquisitions and partnerships.
