Canal Digital chooses Google technology to create next generation TV experience.
In a press release, Canal Digital said it is developing a brand new TV universe, based on Google’s Android TV platform.
At this year’s IBC conference in Amsterdam, representatives from Canal Digital held a presentation as part of Google’s Android TV Summit. In conjunction with this presentation, it was announced that Canal Digital is currently in the process of creating a completely new TV experience based on Google’s innovative and open ecosystem, the Android TV platform.
“We are excited to be creating a next generation TV experience. Being built on the Android TV platform, it will offer the customers a totally new TV experience, with seamless integration between direct TV, streaming and other services. With this platform, we will meet our customers’ rapidly changing demands,” said Ragnar Kårhus, CEO of Canal Digital.
Further details about the new TV experience will be revealed over time. Canal Digital has been working on the Android TV platform for some time, and a launch date will be announced later in 2017.
