OTT sports channel Eleven Sports has secured the online rights to the Serie A TIM in Italy.
The OTT platform will screen three live games a week on mobile, tablet and online.
Coverage will begin on October 1 with Napoli-Cagliari, Benevento-Inter and Milan-Roma and will include pre- and post-match analysis.
Typically the games will include the 6pm Saturday kick-off and matches at 12.30pm and 3pm on Sunday. Matches will be priced at €1.99 each with all three available for €3.99.
“Our model of acquiring smaller rights with economically viable production costs and widespread appeal amongst domestic fans in Italy has proved very successful and we are thrilled to take our coverage of football to the next level by delivering top Serie A action for the fans.” said Danny Menken, Group Managing Director, Eleven Sports. “We are looking forward to working in partnership with Serie A to help them reach and grow their fan-base across Italy by providing access to the biggest and best teams and players at an affordable price.”
The deal follows Eleven Sports’ acquisition of Sportube, which launched in the Italian market in 2010. The platform is maintaining the Sportube name until later this year.
