The Polish DTH platform nc+ will introduce its first 4K set-top box in the first half of November.
Known as the 4K Ready – UltraBOX+, it will allow nc+ to become the first broadcaster in Poland to offer its subscribers sports coverage in 4K.
It will also give them access to VOD and nc+ GO TV, which contain over 6,000 films, serials and on demand programmes.
The box’s other feature will include Multirecording and Fast Zapping.
Commenting on the box, Jacek Balicki, VP of the marketing management board, said: “In 2006 we were the precursors of the HDTV standard on the Polish market, introducing the first HD decoder. Now, facing the next technological revolution, we are taking another important step and introducing the 4K Ready decoder, and soon we will be providing our customers with the first broadcast of 4K sports events. We are also running into the future and we want the 4K standard to stay with us permanently, so our series will in the future be produced with 4K technology”.
