The chief executive of Norwegian cablenet Get says its essential there’s a place for local content in on demand and streaming services.
“In connection with the Nordic Serial Days (Nordiske Seriedager), which are now being held, we are launching in collaboration with Euforia Film over 20 Norwegian films on our new streaming platform. In addition, we have signed a new agreement that includes 25 Norwegian documentary films,” says Gunnar Evensen, CEO of Get and TDC Norway. “The Norwegian content will be included in today’s television offers to all customers. Customers can now see even more Norwegian content, wherever and whenever they want, both online, PC, Mac and Apple TV.
Nordic Serial Days, organised by public broadcaster NRK and sponsored by Get, are an opportunity for public and industry to meet the region’s top actors and producers.
“We are very pleased that Get goes ahead and promises and shows Norwegian content. We have seen that some foreign actors downplay Norwegian productions, and as a counterweight to this, it is crucial that Get and other major Norwegian suppliers focus on local content so that this will not disappear for the public,” says Vibeke Skistad of Euforia Film.
Scandinavian series including The Killing, Borgen, Wallander and Valkyrien continue to gain international acclaim.
