The Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission (LRTK) will meet this week to discuss the future distribution of the Russian channel TVCI in the country.
In a statement, the regulator says that it decided in June that a specific programme on the channel (‘Right to know’) violated the Lithuanian Law of Public Information.
It adds that it subsequently informed the broadcaster about the violations and possible sanctions.
It also invited TVCI to attend a meeting to discuss the issue.
Although the LRTK received an explanation from TVCI in September 6 in which it did not recognise the violations, the broadcaster agreed to attending a hearing on September 20 to provide further clarifications.
