The Polish public broadcaster TVP had a loss of nearly PLN29 million (€6.77 million) in the first seven months of this year.
Quoting Juliusz Braun from the National Media Council (RMN), a body responsible for overseeing public service media in the country, Wirtualne Media reports that TVP’s management is obliged to provide it with details of its financial situation.
While the figures for Q1 were confidential, those for Q2 were made available.
Braun added that TVP’s losses were PLN8.5 million below those envisaged in its plan. Meanwhile, receiver licence fee and sponsorship/ad revenues were PLN20 million and PLN33 million respectively lower than in the same period in 2016.
Jacek Kurski, the president of TVP, has been invited to discuss the broadcaster’s financial performance with the RMN on September 28.
