Though a relatively young company, having been established in 2013, Shanghai-based SERAPHIC has an experienced management team and is very much focused on the international market.
Speaking to Broadband TV News at IBC, Xinwen Xue, VP product management, said that it has a desire to support other companies in the Asia-Pacific region, which is at the heart of the digital TV business.
In terms presence, In Europe the company already has a team in place in Germany and will set up a branch in the second half of this year.
Elsewhere, it has a branch in Taiwan and is considering establishing one in South Korea, though not in 2017.
SERAPHIC also has a global partnership in place with MStar.
In Xue’s view, it is “very important to build a local business team for an operator business to ensure long-term support for their services”.
Xue was also keen to stress the pioneering role that SERAPHIC has played in the adoption of HbbTV, having done so before its competitors.
Looking to the future, he said that things are going very much in the direction of TV Everywhere and it would continue to provide a broad range of support to operators.
