Dutch SIM-only provider Youfone is entering the OTT TV market with budget-priced Youfone TV.
YoufoneTV has developed the platform in collaboration with Huawei. CEO Valentijn Rensing expects to build up market share quickly with low price pressure, and expects to have 160,000 customers within three years.
Introductory prices are set at €9.95 a month for the YoufoneTV app, €14.95 for TV at home and €19.95 for triple play offer Alles-in-1, going up to €39.95 after the first six months.
The new OTT platform will offer live TV TV, video on demand and other content at any location in the Netherlands via a TV receiver or TV app, available in SD, HD and on the YoufoneTV platform (in the future) in 4K. Apps for LG and Samsung smart TVs will become available next month, with more brands to be added at a later stage
Rensing:”Huawei has built the underlying tech platform and network. We thought about what it should look like and brought all the content together and linked. We are constantly working on improving and integrating the offer.”
YoufoneTV offers up to 100 linear TV channels, and offers VOD with a variety of titles. The basic tier offers 21 channels, and more channels can be added in packages of five, ten or more channels. Fox Sports 1 HD is part of the basic tier, other Fox channels can be added.
