Germany’s national football association Deutsche Fußball-Liga (DFL) has summoned an immediate meeting with Eurosport following the repeated problems during its Bundesliga live transmissions on OTT service Eurosport Player.
“At yesterday’s Friday night game of the Bundesliga, there were technical disturbances at several occasions during Eurosport’s live coverage. The affected fans are understandably dissatisfied, just like Eurosport itself and DFL,” the association said in a statement.
“Even though the problems apparently only had a low scale according to the information currently available, DFL will jointly discuss with Eurosport at the beginning of next week how the Bundesliga’s high standard can be consistently ensured.”
Following the live transmission of the Friday night Bundesliga game between Hamburger SV and RB Leipzig on September 8, 2017 Eurosport issued a statement in which the channel admits that some Eurosport Player customers experienced problems “typical for streaming services”, but the majority of viewers would have been able to follow the game without any problems. “We therefore continue working hard to further improve the product and experience for our fans.”
At Eurosport’s previous live transmission of a Friday night game on August 25, 2017 technical problems prevented many Eurosport Player customers to watch the full match. The affected viewers were reimbursed €10.
