Google has rolled out the children’s and family version of its video portal YouTube in Germany and Austria.
The ad-supported, free-of-charge app YouTube Kids comprises videos, channels and playlists customised for children including, for example, series like Heidi, Maya the Bee and Fireman Sam. The content is offered in the categories series, music, learning and exploring.
Parents can determine several control factors, for example regarding the accessible content, whether the search function is activated and how long the children can use the app.
YouTube Kids is available for smartphones and tablets with the operating systems Android and iOS, on smart TV sets and via Chromecast, Apple TV and games consoles.
The service was launched in the US in 2015. It is now available in 37 countries and eight languages.
