The Polish TV channels TVP Info, Kino Polska International and Kino Polska Muzyka International are to be made available free-to-air (FTA) to viewers in south eastern parts of Lithuania from next February.
Baltic Times reports that the districts of Vilnius, Salcininkai and Svencionys have large ethnic Polish populations and the move is being made to counter Russian propaganda.
It adds that last Friday (September 1) the Lithuanian Transport and Communications Ministry published the technical specifications for the public procurement for retransmission services, with the bidding procedure to be launched in late September and a contract with the winning bidder to be signed in late December.
At present TV Polonia is the only Polish TV channel that viewers in Lithuania can watch free of charge.
