Sky is to cease the distribution of Fox News in the UK.
The US-centric news channel is said to be pulling insufficient audiences to make it commercially viable. In June Barb data shows Fox News to have an audience of just 0.01 per cent.
Sky has been the only outlet for the channel in the UK. Distribution ceased on Tuesday afternoon.
Previously Sky has supplied local inserts and advertising into the channel for the UK market, but in recent years Fox Extra has filled the windows.
The conduct of senior figures at Fox News has been highlighted during the proposed merger between Sky and 21st Century Fox, but the merger is not thought to be a factor in the removal of the channel.
Former Fox news anchor Bill O’Reilly and the network’s chief executive Roger Ailes both left the company in the wake of allegations of sexual and racial harassment, which they denied.
Fox News founder Ailes died in May this year.
