Michal Holeksa has been appointed the VP of the Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) by Beata Szydlo, the country’s PM.
Holeksa has been employed in public administration since 2000, with one of the positions he held being the director of the executive office of the UOKiK between 2016-17.
Under the Protection of Competition and Consumers Act, the UOKiK’s VPs are appointed by the PM via an open and competitive recruitment procedure.
The UOKiK plays a key role in overseeing the electronic communications marketplace in Poland.
It is currently examining the proposed take-over of Multimedia Polska, the country’s third largest cable operator, by Liberty Global-owned UPC Polska.
