German Schlager channel GoldStar TV could be closed if Sky Deutschland goes ahead with its rumoured plan to remove the channel from its platform.
The pay-TV channel operated by Munich-based media company Mainstream Media AG could be axed from Sky’s offer in the next weeks, reports German industry magazine kress. Officially, Sky claims that talks were still being held, but, according to kress, there is no realistic hope left that GoldStar TV could actually remain on air.
Gottfried Zmeck, majority owner of Mainstream Media, didn’t want to comment on the situation with reference to the still ongoing talks.
GoldStar TV is available exclusively on Sky Deutschland’s platform in Germany and Austria. Mainstream Media also operates pay-TV channels Heimatkanal and Romance TV which would not be affected by the closure.
Sky Deutschland removed several third-party channels from its platform in the past months to focus more strongly on its own channels and content. The latest channels withdrawn were Sport1 US HD, AXN und the pay-TV channels operated by ProSiebenSat.1.
