Eurosport will reimburse the customers of its OTT service Eurosport Player in Germany and Austria €10 as a compensation for the technical problems experienced during its Bundesliga live transmission on August 25, 2017.
Many viewers weren’t able to watch the Friday evening match between 1. FC Köln and Hamburger SV or only parts of it due to signal interruptions.
The reasons for the outages of the live-stream are still unclear. According to Eurosport, the channel is jointly working with its technology partners to identify the reasons and ensure that something like this will not happen again.
“This is not acceptable, we understand your frustration and formally apologise for it,” Eurosport said in a message on its website and on Twitter (see below). All affected subscribers of the Eurosport Player will automatically receive a reimbursement of €10 on the chosen payment method in the next days.
“We know that we can’t undo anything through this move, but please accept it as a sign of our good will and serious effort to keep and satisfy you as glad customers of our offer.”
The compensation is quite high compared with the special price of €29.99 per year Eurosport Player customers are currently paying as part of an introductory offer available until August 31, 2017.
