Hungary’s leading alternative telco Invitel has launched a low-price internet package aimed at users who are not yet online.
BBJ reports that the move is part of the government-initiated Digital Welfare Programme and the package is 20% cheaper than similar ones offered to other Invitel customers.
Earlier this month, Magyar Telekom and Telenor also launched packages that are part of the Digital Welfare Programme.
Thanks to the programme, internet usage in Hungary has risen to 78%, just one percentage point below the EU average.
The governmemt aims to increase it to over 85% by 2019.
