ProSiebenSat.1 launches live TV app in Austria

August 21, 2017 20.36 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4, the Austrian subsidiary of German media company ProSiebenSat.1, has bundled the free-of-charge live-streams of its Austrian free-to-air channels in a central app for smartphones and tablets.

Zappn also contains a catch-up TV service, an archive with selected programmes and additional videos. The free-of-charge app is available for mobile devices working with operating systems iOS and Android. The streams can also be beamed to the TV set using Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast.

The app currently contains TV channels Puls 4, ProSieben Austria, Sat.1 Österreich, kabel eins Austria, sixx Austria, ProSieben Maxx Austria, Sat.1 Gold Österreich and kabel eins Doku Austria. ATV which ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4 acquired in April 2017 will follow shortly.

Zappn is open for third-party channels. “The platform has been designed in a way that we can add further channels any time,” said Markus Bacher, head of the digital and distribution department of ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4. “I invite all broadcasters and channels to use this chance and thereby create a strong, Austrian digital product.”

Since December 2016, ProSiebenSat.1 Puls 4’s free-to-air channels have already been offering free-of-charge live-streams and on-demand content within their individual, stand-alone smartphone and tablet apps.
