Mixed year for Spain’s Euskaltel

July 31, 2017 08.05 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The Spanish cable operator Euskaltel had 274,100 TV RGUS as of the end of June, or 9,000 (+3.5%) more than in the same period last year.

However, its overall financial performance was less impressive, with revenues in H1, at €279.3 million, being 2.3% lower than a year earlier.

Adjusted EBIT was 5.2% down at €62 million and net income 30.1% lower at €21.1 million.

In its latest set of results, the company notes that as of the end of H1 TV subscriber penetration stood at 58.9%.

This compared to mobile’s 79.6% and broadband’s 84.4%.

Euskaltel also says it launched a new 4K Android set-top box this month that will be installed in new and selected current customers.

Earlier this year Euskaltel bought Telecable in a deal worth €686 million, thereby further strengthening its position as a leading provider of electronic communication services in the north of Spain.
