Production company all3media Deutschland has taken over Wige South&Browse, the production subsidiary of German media and technology group Wige Media.
Through the sale, Wige Media expects a net cash inflow of €700,000 and a book profit of €600,000, the company announced in Cologne.
Munich-based Wige South&Browse produces factual entertainment and docutainment programmes for public and commercial German broadcasters such as Bayerischer Rundfunk, Südwestrundfunk, ProSiebenSat.1, RTL II and Sky Deutschland.
With the takeover, Munich will become all3media Deutschland’s third production base besides Berlin and Cologne.
Tom Gamlich (pictured), currently Senior Vice President Entertainment of Wige Media, will head the operational business of South&Browse as managing director and producer when the transaction becomes effective.
The deal which is still subject to approval by the competition authorities is to be closed in the second half of 2017. Wige Media bought South&Browse in 2014 after it had to file for insolvency.
All3media, a joint venture between Liberty Global and Discovery Communications, is present in the movie and TV market as well as in the production and sales business in Germany through Filmpool Entertainment, Filmpool Fiction, Bon Voyage Films and Tower Productions, a joint venture with BBC Worldwide.
