Scripps launches global unit

July 27, 2017 07.49 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Scripps Networks Interactive’s digital division Scripps Lifestyle Studios has launched a global division.

The initial expansion for the popular domestic brands Food Network, HGTV, and Travel Channel extends to the company’s international operations in London, Warsaw, Singapore, São Paulo, and Miami.

Commenting on the development, Vikki Neil, general manager of Scripps Lifestyle Studios, said: “At Scripps Lifestyle Studios, we create digital content with the goal of appealing to all regions and including unique perspectives on food, home and travel.

“This global expansion will allow us to diversify our lifestyle content with fresh influences from international staff and talent, and to create new opportunities for international business partners.”

Derek Chang, head of International Lifestyle Channels for Scripps Networks Interactive, added: “The global expansion of Scripps Lifestyle Studios will allow Scripps Networks to quickly scale a greater global presence for our premier brands, using local expertise to accelerate the creation, distribution, and monetization of the content while helping source additional content and to identify fresh new talent.”

Scripps Networks’ global social media expansion will focus on key growth markets with solid early followings including the company’s Facebook footprint: Food Network UK, HGTV Poland, Asian Food Channel, Food Network Brazil and Food Network Latin America.

Scripps Lifestyle Studios exceeded 5.6 billion video views in Q2 2017, an increase of 435% over the same period last year. In June 2017 alone, Scripps Lifestyle Studios delivered more than 2.1 billion total video views, the most ever in a single month and a 340% increase on the previous year. Food Network, Travel Channel, and HGTV consistently rank in the top five content creators within their respective categories, with Food Network ranking No. 1 over Buzzfeed’s Tasty for each month of the second quarter, according to Tubular Labs.

Scripps Lifestyle Studios is a digital business division of Scripps Networks Interactive, created to drive digital content innovation and advertising solutions. Launched in 2015, it delivered over 5 billion total video views across various digital platforms last year.
