Euronews puts German channel back on satellite

July 26, 2017 10.52 Europe/London By Jörn Krieger

Euronews has recommenced DTH distribution of its German-language channel for satellite households on Astra (19.2° East).

The transmission is unencrypted on the frequency 12.226 GHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4) in standard definition (SD). It’s a regular, permanent 24/7 feed, a Euronews spokeswoman confirmed to Broadband TV News. The broadcast commenced on July 25, 2017 at 15.00 CET.

With the split into 12 separate channels for its different target regions, Euronews changed its distribution strategy in May 2017. The German-language channel has no longer been offered via satellite since then, broadcasting only on cable networks and IPTV platforms.

All 12 language versions of Euronews can also be received as a live-stream on its website at www.euronews.com/live and within the Euronews app on mobile devices.

In a message to its German viewers, Euronews regrets the several months of interruption of the satellite distribution of its German channel and apologises for the inconvenience.
