In Germany, the turnover amounted to €2.7 billion (2015: €2.5 billion). The figures were released by commercial broadcaster association VPRT in its market analysis Pay-TV in Deutschland 2017.

For 2017, the industry association predicts a turnover growth by 10-12% to around €3.4 billion in German-language Europe.

The number of pay-TV subscribers rose in 2016 to around 7.6 million in Germany (2015: 7.3 million) and to around 8.4 million in German-speaking Europe (2015: 8.1 million). In 2017, VPRT expects the number of subscribers to climb to 7.9 million in Germany and to 8.7 million in German-speaking Europe.

The average monthly reach of the pay-TV channels in Germany amounted to 13.1 million viewers in 2016 (2015: 11.7 million) and to 15.8 million viewers in the first half of 2017.
