Dutch competition authority Autoriteit Consument & Markt (ACM) has cleared the take-over of SBS Broadcasting by John de Mol’s Talpa.
ACM ruled that there will be no changes for consumers and advertisers by the new ownership, as Talpa Holding already owns one third of SBS.
Last April, Talpa Holding said it had acquired a 67% stake in SBS broadcasting from the Finnish company Sanoma.
The deal gives Talpa full ownership of TV stations SBS6, NET5, Veronica and SBS9 as well as a number of radio stations including Radio 538, Veronica and Sky Radio. Talpa pays Sanoma EUR237 for its share in the broadcaster, and transfers its stake in the TV guide business Veronica Uitgeverij to Sanoma.
