The Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska’s utility business is attracting interest from Orange and PGE.
According to Puls Biznesu, PGE, the leading energy company in Poland, initially submitted the highest bid but it has since been bettered by the incumbent telco Orange.
It adds that that a sale, which is likely to be finalised by the end of this month, could see the utility business, which supplies gas and electricity to 40,000 clients, fetch over PLN50 million (€11.8 million).
Multimedia is currently in the process of being sold to Liberty Global’s UPC Polska.
However, the deal requires the approval of the competition authority UOKiK.
UPC has indicated it has no interest in acquiring Multimedia’s utility business.
