Ukraine’s National Council has fined 123 licensed broadcasters a total of around UAH350,000 (€11,647) for failing to disclose their ownership structure.
In statement, it says that for the second year in a row none have complied with the law “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” requiring them to provide the information.
Quoting Yuriy Artemenko, the council’s chairman, it adds that this could result in their licences not being prolonged in the future.
The law “On Television and Radio Broadcasting” also stipulates the amount of the fine as 5% of the total amount of the licence fee for all the licences owned by the offender.
In this instance, the fines range from UAH0.14 to UAH69,534.
