German pay-TV broadcaster Sky Deutschland has extended its free-of-charge offer for sports fans.
Following the transformation of sports news channel Sky Sport News HD into a free-to-air channel in December 2016, Sky Deutschland has now launched its advertising-funded free sports streaming service on the internet.
The website skysport.de offers current news and highlights from the world of sports 24 hours per day including football, Formula 1, handball, tennis and golf. The focus is on sports videos, for example footage from Sky’s exclusive sports rights portfolio such as the UEFA Champions League and the German Handball-Bundesliga.
The site also comprises a live-stream of TV channel Sky Sport News HD.
With the move announced in September 2016, Sky competes with sports portals such as Sport1.de from German sports TV channel Sport1 and Spox.com from UK-based Perform Group which also operates OTT service DAZN.
